Fintech Control Evidence Lab

A six-session lab where payments and lending teams rebuild sampleable control narratives before partner or regulatory reviews.

Learning outcomes

  • Write control statements tied to product workflows, not generic policy language.
  • Design sample plans with inclusion rules, periods, and exception handling.
  • Assemble an evidence index auditors can navigate without tribal knowledge.
  • Facilitate a timed dry-run and capture unanswered ownership questions.

Modules

  1. 01

    Scope honesty

Define what is in the review window, what is adjacent, and what must wait. Map systems of record for KYC, ledger, and settlements.

  2. 02

    Control narrative craft

Rewrite vague controls into testable statements with owners, frequency, and evidence types.

  3. 03

    Sampling without theatre

Build sample plans that reflect volume reality — including how you treat voids, retries, and weekend batches.

  4. 04

    Exception logs that age cleanly

Document breaks with remediation owners and closure criteria that survive walkthrough questions.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough scripting

Practice answering “show me” requests with screens, exports, and named backups.

  6. 06

    Scored dry-run

Run a facilitated review with interruption drills and a punch list for the real window.

Participant notes

“Module three’s sample criteria rewrite is what our KYC lead still uses. The dry-run scoring was tougher than our actual partner call — which was the point.”

Min-ji H., compliance lead

Anonymous client in digital lending: “Useful lab. We under-estimated how long ledger tie-outs would take after the homework dropped.”

FAQ

Who should attend?

Control owners, compliance leads, and operations managers who will speak in a walkthrough. Pure executives without system access usually struggle to complete homework.

Does this replace an external audit?

No. The lab prepares your evidence and narrative. It does not issue an audit opinion or legal attestation.

What is a real limitation of this program?

We cannot invent missing source-system logs. If your product never retained an audit trail for a control, the lab will surface that gap — it will not fabricate evidence. Teams sometimes need engineering work outside the cohort timeline.

Is content Korea-specific?

Examples reference Korean partner diligence patterns and bilingual artifact habits, while sampling methods remain usable for international reviews.
